Australian Online Classifieds continue to grow
According to the latest news about the online ad market that includes; best buy, job ads, free posting, sell online and free online classified ads have increased up to almost 17% year on year in the first quarter. This data that has been released if room the survey that has been done by the IAB Australia, with the statement that the online expenditure for the first three months of 2010 totaled $512.5 million.
In accordance to the report this classifieds online and free ads showed an important increase in association with the prior quarter. However it is said to be quite a balance by a decrease in the general display market. This has been put down to the seasonality of the first quarter.
From Paul Fisher, CEO of IAB Australia, said: “Less than two years ago, many advertisers were asking ‘why should I advertise online?’. Today, the question we hear most is ‘how or where should I advertise online?”
Indeed with the continuous growing of the consumers in the classifieds online industry, that has been continued double digit growth in online advertising expenditure. With the latest data brings total advertising expenditure in the 2010 financial year to nearly $1.5 billion and the industry is well placed to surpass $2 billion by the end of June 2010.
“Retail and FMCG advertisers and government continue to grow their share of the online general display market, foreshadowing significant shifts to online away from other media.” Fisher added.
