New Chairman and Programmes Manager for IAB Australia
Interactive Advertising Bureau Australia (IAB Australia) has appointed Nic Cola, COO of Fairfax Digital, as its new chairman. He will be replacing outgoing chairman Rohan Lund. Also new to the team is Gai Le Roy, who will be the new programmes manager for IAB Australia’s measurement research and standards and guidelines committees. Le Roy was previously the insights manager at NineMSN.
IAB Australia has been around since 1995, established by Australia’s major online publishers. It aims to evangelise the online advertising industry in Australia. Every year, IAB holds the IAB awards to recognize the best in Australian interactive advertising.
The new chairman plans to focus on two major goals next year. According to Cola, these would be: “advancing our efforts regarding online measurement and ensuring we build awareness and trust in online as a brand building medium for marketers.”
“Nic will be a great asset to the Board and his knowledge of the industry ensures the IAB is in good hands. I look forward to working with Mr Cola and continuing our efforts in the core pillars of activity for the IAB and its Councils, measurement, research and standards,” said Paul Fisher, IAB Australia’s CEO.
Meanwhile, IAB Australia recently announced that it is working with Nielsen to create a hybrid web audience measurement solution that combines panel-based measurement and server-based measurement. The benefit of panel-based measurement is that it directly measures people and not just browsers or computers. Serve-based measurement, on the other hand, gives a less accurate vie of individual user behaviour but is effective at measuring the long tail.
