Print media needed to get revenue from online classifieds
According to the latest news print media like newspaper publishers decided and agree that they need to generate more revenue from job ads, buy sell trade, best buy through free classifieds online. However with this decision they haven’t decided yet when to start and how to do it using online ads.
“There’s no silver bullet,” Deloitte’s technology and media research director Duncan Stewart told QMI Agency.
According to the news recently the CanWest has been restructured new digital strategy director John Paton told the same crowd that he is hoping that the newspaper chain will earn as much as 50% of its revenue from online classifieds ads in the next five years.
CanWest has been recovered from bankruptcy after a group of unsecured creditors purchased, the beleaguered chain of papers, with titles including the National Post and the Ottawa Citizen, for $1.1 billion. This according to them was also one of the reasons that is why they need to gain revenue through classifieds ads and sell online. The arriving President and Chief Executive Paul Godfrey has mentioned lower targets, closer to 25% in the next two and a half years, however still up from the roughly 10% CanWest at this time earns from its online properties.
