The lowest white water kayaking grade is Grade II, which is usually found in streams and sloping rivers. A Grade II kayaking grade is usually consistent, and lasts longer than most kayaking courses.

The highest white water kayaking grade is Grade VI, which usually refers to seriously strong currents that are usually impassable, and can cause certain death. High waterfalls and extremely strong currents are very risky, and rangers and park personnel generally refuse entry for kayakers and other extreme sports enthusiasts.

When choosing a kayaking course, pick one that best suits you. For novices and amateurs, Grade III kayaking courses are perfect. If you really want a challenge, a Grade IV or Grade V kayaking course can really get you going.
